Job Description

Post-Doctoral Opportunity in Autism Research at Rowan University

We are seeking a highly motivated recent or soon-to-be Ph.D. graduate with research experience in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), mood disorders, or affective neuroscience to join an NIH R01-funded investigation of the structure and measurement of repetitive thinking in autism and in depression. Start date flexible; Fall 2020 or early Winter 2021 preferred.

This postdoctoral associate would train under Dr. Katherine Gotham, whose research program focuses on cognitive and social reward processes as potential contributors to emotional health problems in autism. Research at Dr. Gotham’s Social, Emotional, and Affective Health Lab (SEAHL) aims to inform targeted treatment development that will improve quality of life in adolescents and adults on the spectrum.

Training opportunities will be related to producing mentored research manuscripts for publication. Depending on a candidate’s background, they may also receive training in diagnostic assessment of adults with ASD using standardized instruments, and/or methods in psychophysiological data collection and analysis (EEG, pupillometry, and eye-tracking). We have potential to tailor additional training opportunities, such as hours for clinical licensure or mentored grant writing.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, neuroscience, or a related field at the time of beginning the position and be eligible to work in the United States. The successful applicant may be responsible for discrete aspects of study coordination and team oversight. Excellent written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and time management skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and within a team.
