Job Description

The Associate Director of Digital Engagement reports to the Senior Associate Director of Digital Engagement within the Communications team in supporting all aspects of online engagement initiatives across Wharton External Affairs. In this role, the Associate Director will track metrics and create reports on engagement platforms including Salesforce, LinkedIn, and the MyPenn alumni network to inform the continued development of these interfaces. The incumbent will create content and post to digital platforms to engage alumni in dialogues. In addition, the incumbent will create and maintain a knowledge library of engagement activities. The Associate Director will also be part of the alumni communications help desk to ensure that the alumni experience is of highest quality. The Associate Director is responsible for contributing to and executing the strategy for the Wharton Alumni Club website platform, which is the leading engagement vehicle for domestic, international, and affinity clubs. This position works closely with external vendors, internal partners across Wharton and Penn, and alumni leaders to create and disseminate best practices for use of the platform and consult with alumni club leaders to provide digital strategy. The incumbent will work closely with key stakeholders across the School and Penn Development and Alumni Relations to communicate and enforce policies, standards, and procedures, and partners with the Global Clubs team to integrate students and new alumni into the Global Club Network.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Track metrics and create reports on engagement platforms including Salesforce, LinkedIn, and MyPenn to inform the continued development of these platforms.
  • Create content and post to digital platforms to engage alumni by maintaining a knowledge library of programming activities.
  • Serve on the alumni communications help desk to ensure that the alumni experience is of highest quality.
  • Contribute to and execute the strategy for the Wharton Alumni Club website platform, which is the leading engagement vehicle for domestic, international, and affinity clubs.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 1-2 years experience in customer service oriented environment involving the use of technology and 2-3 years experience in alumni relations or development desired.
  • Demonstrates a high level of comfort with technology usage and willingness to learn the functionality of new platforms. Experience with NationBuilder website platform is a plus.
  • Ability to gather and articulate user requirements between functional and technical staff.
  • Exceptional project management presentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CMS platforms (Salesforce desired), Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite, working knowledge of data exchange desired.
  • Experience in serving volunteer organizations and understanding volunteer perspective.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of international cultures and heightened diplomacy skills; confidence and maturity to work with senior business alumni and faculty.
  • Exceptional collaboration, leadership, and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Effective at handling international and domestic relations remotely.
