Job Summary: This position reports to Campus & Site Services Manager and works under general supervision to ensure support for students, staff, and faculty at the (campus). The specialist assists students with all aspects of support ranging from admissions through graduation and transfer. The specialist assists in the printing of OneCards, accepts payments, operated a cash register, and connects student, staff, and faculty with additional resources, as needed. The specialist interfaces professionally with faculty and academic departments and with other college personnel in divisions including Student Affairs, Facilities, the Key Office, Auxiliary Services, Tutoring & Learning, Public Safety, and Information Technology who support the specialist’s assigned campus.This position is an (evening) shift at the Jordan Campus with an average of 24-28 hours a week and up to 125 hours a month.Hours for this position will be:Monday – 1:30 pm – 7:00 pmTuesday – 1:30 pm – 7:00 pmWednesday – 1:30 pm – 7:00 pmThursday – 1:30 pm – 7:00 pmFriday – 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Student Services – Assist students and prospective students in the following areas but not limited to:
  • Participate in daily operations of the center. Respond courteously and promptly to in-person and telephone inquiries, serving diverse populations in a warm inclusive manner. Provide accurate, consistent information.
  • Assist students with admissions applications, registration, records, transcripts, SLCC systems, and financial aid, provide information on the Center for Access and Disability services, printing, and other questions as needs arise.
  • Assist in the processing of lost & found items, working in collaboration with Surplus Services.
  • Participate in campus emergency training and assist in the event of campus emergencies.
  • Be aware of institutional policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

OneCard Functions – Assist students, staff, and faculty in the following areas, including but not limited to:
  • Respond courteously and promptly to in-person and telephone inquiries about the college, serving diverse populations in a warm inclusive manner. Provide accurate, consistent information.
  • ID creation and issuance, cardholder account maintenance, transaction tracing, and troubleshooting.
  • UTA; buss activation and data entry.
  • Processing payments, BruinBucks, and replacement IDs.
This position will require critical thinking, teamwork, self-starting ability, timeliness, and dependability.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to operate a computer and general office equipment.
    Basic computer literacy.
  • Cashiering experience preferred, but not required.
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience specific to Higher Education.One (1) year post-high school education.One (1) year full-time (or equivalent) work experience.Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based information and scheduling systems.Knowledge and experience with Banner, Transact, Etrieve, and MySLCC programs.Bilingual, Spanish preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Required:• Able to communicate (reading, writing, and speaking) and work effectively with a wide range of diverse individuals• Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with staff, students, faculty, and the public to maintain good working relationships across the College.• Capable of explaining complex issues in a concise manner to students, staff, and faculty.• Able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.• Able to use professional phone etiquette.• Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple activities to meet the department’s needs.• Able to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.• Able to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, abilities, culture, and ethnic backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the college.• Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.Preferred:• A general knowledge of higher education policies, practices, and procedures.• Ability to take initiative in identifying and promoting development opportunities.• Bilingual – Spanish preferred, but not required.
