Job Description

The Program in Multicategorical Special Education in the Division of Education, College of Education, Governors State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant/associate/full professor position in Special Education.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include ( a ) teaching graduate courses in the Special Education program, mentoring masters students and teaching the Special Education service course in the undergraduate program, ( b ) maintaining scholarship (presentations and publications) in Special Education and/or related fields, ( c ) providing service to the profession and participating in professional conferences, and ( d ) providing service to the Program, Division, College, and University. Additionally, opportunities for program leadership may be available for candidates with experience in management.

Governors State University (GSU) was founded in 1969, originally as an upper-division institution with a primary focus of serving community college graduates pursuing baccalaureate degrees. During the five intervening decades, GSU has grown to become the only regional, public, comprehensive university in Chicago’s south suburban area, serving approximately 5,000 students annually in 85 different bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and certificate programs.
