Full time BUS: Marketing

Job Description

The Department of Business Administration and Accounting at Saint Michael's College invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Marketing. This position is a Tenure Track position beginning in August of 2024. Candidates should demonstrate an active research trajectory. Teaching responsibilities include six four-credit classes per academic year from among our required and elective business administration courses. Candidates should also be interested in curriculum development, outcomes assessment, and student advising.

Typical courses include principles of marketing, marketing electives, and either managerial ethics or one of the major’s required experiential options, called Organizational Problem Solving. Potential elective courses include international marketing, marketing management, sports marketing, consumer behavior, marketing research, and entrepreneurship. There is room in the curriculum to also develop integrated marketing courses such as sales, public relations, marketing for nonprofits, marketing ethics and sustainability, marketing analytics, or services marketing.

The department culture is committed to student excellence, and our faculty explore opportunities for co-authored teaching and research. There may be opportunity to teach courses in the newly established Digital Marketing program or the College’s interdisciplinary programs given a candidate’s background. Innovative approaches to teaching, passion, enthusiasm, and effective use of technology are desired to achieve department learning outcomes.

Our lived experience impacts how we self-assess our skills, experience, and qualifications. In particular, data and statistics have shown that candidates who are BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, people from working-class backgrounds, people with disabilities, and others with minoritized and marginalized identities may not apply to jobs when they do not believe they meet 100% of the requirements and expected responsibilities listed in the job descriptions. Some responsibilities and skills are teachable and can be learned on the job. If you can imagine yourself in this position, bringing value to our students and community and meeting most of what we are looking for, please apply.

Benefits include health, dental, vision, employer paid life and disability insurance, voluntary life, critical illness and accident insurance options, parental leave, flexible spending accounts (healthcare and dependent care), 401(k), employee and dependent tuition benefits, employee assistance program, well-being programs and opportunities, discounted gym membership, paid volunteer time, use of the athletic facilities and the library, and countless opportunities to attend presentations, lectures, and other campus activities.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Applicants must have the following:

  • Relevant PhD or DBA (or joint degree like JD/MBA) by Aug 2024. Doctoral candidates close to completion will be considered, as will those with a Master’s degree along with significant industry experience/consulting and relevant professional certifications
  • Demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence preferred
  • Demonstrated willingness to collaborate and actively engage in department and college events and meetings, program assessment, on-campus student recruitment open houses, and potential mentoring/coaching of student teams or associations
