Job Description

 

The Division of Anatomic Pathology of UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPSOM) is seeking an academic pathologist at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank (tenure or non-tenure depending on qualifications) with specialty interest in Gastrointestinal and Pancreatobiliary Pathology. This is a subspecialty sign out practice and the successful candidate would join our Gastrointestinal Pathology Center of Excellence (COE). This position will primarily involve evaluation of luminal gastrointestinal tract and pancreatobiliary specimens and is not liver focused. This COE processes over 20,000 specimens per year and serves as a local and regional consultation reference laboratory for Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and West Virginia. Our COE is also home to a Gastrointestinal, Hepatobiliary, and Pancreatic Pathology Clinical Instructor Program. In addition to teaching and sign out responsibilities, the candidate would have ample opportunities for translational projects utilizing the state-of-the-art resources of our molecular anatomic pathology, FISH, and other laboratories with the goal of achieving a national reputation. Participation in other subspecialty sign outs may be possible based on the candidate’s interest.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

The candidate should be Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology with subspecialty training in Gastrointestinal/Pancreatobiliary Pathology and must be eligible for medical licensure in Pennsylvania. A record of and commitment to scholarly activities and publications is essential. Academic rank [Assistant/Associate/Professor (nontenure)] is commensurate with prior academic achievements and experience. The department will provide startup resources and protected time to assure a successful academic career.
