Work in the lab is centered on understanding how neural circuits in the brain transform environmental stimuli into appropriate behavioral outputs.


Position Description:

This position may provide specific technical skills and/or are pursuing projects designed to strengthen research credentials. This role is intended to provide laboratory heads with flexibility in meeting changing research and technical needs. These duties may include, but are not limited to, performing basic theoretical and experimental scientific and technological investigation directed toward the acquisition of new knowledge, preparing comprehensive documented observations, analyses and interpretations of results, including technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses.


Education:

Required:

  • PhD or MD required and typically at least three years of related post PhD/MD research experience or equivalent.


Experience:

Required:

  • Typically at least three years of related post PhD/MD research experience or equivalent.
  • Expected to publish activities, findings and conclusions in recognized scientific publications and present same at appropriate scientific conferences and forums.
  • They may also be expected to document research leading to patent disclosure or technical and/or scientific advancement.
  • This position may provide specific technical skills and/or are pursuing projects designed to strengthen research credentials.
  • This role is intended to provide laboratory heads with flexibility in meeting changing research and technical needs.
  • These duties may include, but are not limited to, performing basic theoretical and experimental scientific and technological investigation directed toward the acquisition of new knowledge, preparing comprehensive documented observations, analyses and interpretations of results, including technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses.

Preferred:

  • Preferred: Familiarity with sequencing technologies.


Special Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work in an animal-related research environment.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Institute’s background investigation.
  • Willing to work an adjusted schedule when research needs require it.


Physical Requirements:

This role requires constant adjusting focus, grasping, hearing, keying, seeing, sitting, talking, analyzing, calculating, communicating, reading, reasoning, writing, working in confined areas and working inside.
