Position Status: Full-Time

Position Summary:
Office of the Dean, College of Education (Savannah, GA). The Executive Assistant I reports to the Dean of the College of Education and provides administrative assistance to the Dean and one Associate Dean, specifically in the management of the Dean's Office, screening calls, visitors and mail, arranging conferences and meetings, and maintaining appointment schedules.

Essential Functions

  • Manages operation of the Dean's Office, responding to inquiries and concerns from callers and visitors on behalf of the Dean.
  • Interprets organization policies, rules, and regulations in response to queries; answers general correspondence; plans appointment schedules; makes travel reservations.
  • Performs public relations duties through contacts and associations with visitors, state officials, and the general public, acting as a liaison for the Dean and Associate Dean.
  • Makes arrangements for conferences and meetings, to include: assisting in securing the venue, preparing the agenda, gathering and compiling data, and contacting participants.
  • Prepares special reports and compiles data.
  • Composes and proofreads memos, letters, reports, and presentations.
  • Leads and guides student employees in the Dean's Office.
  • Performs related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University.

Minimum Education Required:
Associate’s Degree

Minimum Experience Required:
Three or more years of related work experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Effective communication skills (verbal and written); developed organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; legally authorized to work in the United States; and successful completion of background investigation prior to employment

Preferred Education:
Knowledgeable of the laws, rules, regulations, and policies of the University

Preferred Experience::
Experience in office management; experience working independently on confidential assignments; experience in taking, transcribing, and typing complex, technical, and confidential dictation accurately, rapidly, and to compose effective and accurate correspondence; and/or experience organizing and supervising a group of employees assigned clerical tasks

Salary Range: $37,500
