Primary Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses and advise students in the Child and Family Studies Department
- Participate as a team member in departmental curriculum development and area specific accreditation or certificate-based programs
- Maintain active scholarly work in the form of peer-reviewed publications, book authorship, conference presentations, etc.
- Participate in community and university programs, department, college and university service activities
- Recruitment and retention of students
Required Qualifications - Ph.D. or Ed.D. (minimum of 18 graduate hours in Child Development or directly related field) or ABD (degree completed by August 2024) in Child Development, Human Development, Family Studies, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction (focus on child development); Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university
- Ability to teach online courses
- Ability to utilize technology in the academic classroom
- Experience teaching Child Development, Childhood Trauma and Mental Health and related courses a plus
- Ability to teach classes across the entire spectrum of Child Development a plus
- Clinical or community experience a plus
- Commitment to scholarship and competency as a scholar
- Commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the university community

Students in Child Development participate in programs including the University School for Young Children, a NAEYC accredited childcare program in the College of Education, Health, and Human Studies, as well as Head Start and Early Head Start programs, and the University Autism Center. The Child Development program is offered through regional campuses in Sikeston, Poplar Bluff, and Kennett and completely available on Southeast Online.
