The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art at Georgia Southern University seeks a Visiting Instructor / Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History for the upcoming fall and spring 2020/2021(August 2020 through May 2021). This position is located primarily on the Statesboro campus. The home campus for this position will be in Statesboro, though some classes may be taught at one of Georgia Southern University's other campuses in Savannah, Hinesville. The successful candidate may be asked to teach both in the classroom and online.
At Georgia Southern, visiting instructors normally teach fifteen credit hours per semester and hold regular office hours. All visiting positions are non-tenure track. The appointment is for the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters with the possibility of a one-year extension pending funding and satisfactory performance. The extension year would be a terminal year, without exceptions.
Earned MA in art history or a closely related field by August 1, 2020.
At least one year of teaching experience in higher education.
Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.
ABD, earned Ph.D., or equivalent terminal degree Art History or a closely related field by August 1, 2020
Area of specialty in Modern/Contemporary Art History.
Area of specialty in Non-Western Art History.
Experience teaching online or hybrid classes.
Experience developing online courses.
