Job Description

The Endowed Professor position will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses and support their development as future business leaders. Lead the effort in reviewing the existing curriculum, create new courses to strengthen the existing Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program and establish a Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (including Doctoral students) and support their development as future business leaders.
  • Lead the effort in reviewing the existing curriculum, create new courses to strengthen the existing Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program and establish a Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Campus.
  • Launch an entrepreneurship fellows program.
  • Maintain a well established research agenda and present and publish high quality research in field of expertise.
  • Secure external grants to fund research in entrepreneurship studies.
  • Establish both internal and external partnerships with the Greater Houston Business community to enhance the reputation of College and University in research and teaching entrepreneurship.
  • Seek philanthropic funding to support the establishment of the Center of Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
  • Collaborate with the Small Business Development Center to engage local and regional business community in Houston.
  • Provide oversight and direction to the business community to enhance innovative entrepreneurial initiatives in the area. Recruit students to grow the entrepreneurship area.



Required Education and Experience:

  • Earned Doctorate in Business or related discipline from an accredited University.
  • Extensive higher education teaching experience and a sustained record of quality scholarship in entrepreneurship. Some experience in starting and/or managing an Innovation and Entrepreneurship center at a University. Success in securing and executing external grants in Entrepreneurship.
  • The following will also be considered - Graduate degree from an accredited University with extensive experience in operating/managing multiple New Business Development projects either as an entrepreneur and innovator or as a consultant/venture capitalist involved with entrepreneurial ventures (start-ups).

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Earned Doctorate in Entrepreneurship from an accredited University. Established record of working in New Business Development projects and assisting in launching and sustaining entrepreneurial ventures.
  • The following will also be considered - Extensive experience as a high-level executive at a business organization.



Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrate ability for effective teaching and scholarship.
  • Demonstrate support of professional organizations in the discipline and have potential for obtaining external funding.
