Clinical Assistant Professor in Gifted, Creative, and Talented Studies

 

Job Position Description

The Department of Educational Studies (http://www.edst.purdue.edu) within the College of Education at Purdue University is seeking applicants for a Clinical Assistant Professor, in the Gifted, Creative, and Talented Studies program. The Gifted, Creative, and Talented Studies (GCT) program confers a Ph.D. in GCT Studies, a GCT Graduate Certificate, a High Ability Licensure, and M.Ed. in GCT. This faculty member is expected to teach 5 undergraduate /graduate courses per academic year and serve as course coordinator for large lecture teacher education courses. Course coordination responsibilities include supervising teaching assistants, collaborating with colleagues on shared courses, and attending teacher education related meetings. This faculty member is expected support the mission of Purdue’s Gifted Education Research & Resource Institute (GER2I) and work with GER2I staff to deliver youth programs and professional development for teachers. Specifically, the candidate will be expected to work with the GER2I Director, Associate Director, and graduate student coordinators to deliver high quality youth programs to students for students with gifts, creativity, and talents who participate in the GER2I Saturday and summer enrichment programs and to create professional development opportunities for teachers in online and face-to-face formats. In addition, the successful candidate will: mentor undergraduate and graduate students; and engage in appropriate service and engagement ranging from the program to national levels.

 

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Teach/coordinate graduate and undergraduate courses in the Gifted, Creative, and Talented Studies program.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Participate in GER2I activities to deliver youth programs and professional development for teachers.
  • Serve on program, department, college, and university-wide committees.
  • Engage with national and international professional associations.
  • Collaborate with program faculty on accreditation data collection and reporting efforts.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Applicants for the position must hold Ed.D. or Ph.D. in gifted education or a related discipline by the position start date. Evidence of relevant teaching experience and excellence at both the graduate and undergraduate levels is expected. Candidates should be familiar with both online and face-to-face instruction and have a record of successful involvement in P-12 schools.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Curriculum development and assessment experience.
  • Experience working with in-service and preservice educators.
  • Experience working with gifted youth.
  • Experience with program accreditation.
  • A record of meaningful service at the program and national levels.

 

Salary

Salary and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
