Job Description

THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AT LOYOLA UNIVERSITY MARYLAND invites applications for a one-year, full-time non-tenure track faculty position in the area of research methods, to begin in August 2020.

The person hired for this position will be expected to teach 4 courses per academic semester, primarily, but not exclusively, in research methods. The course load can be reduced to 3 courses per semester if the person hired teaches 3 methods courses along with the associated weekly labs.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

The successful candidate must also be able to hold dedicated office hours, mentor students in research methods, and participate in minimal additional service.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  1. an earned masters or doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Psychology or other social science discipline, with subject matter expertise open;
  2. the ability to teach courses in research methods (study designs; descriptive and inferential statistics);
  3. prior teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness, ideally in research methods;
  4. the ability to create a sense of inclusion and belonging in the classroom, and to infuse multicultural content into course material as appropriate;
  5. strong commitment to excellence in teaching, including an appreciation of or engagement in high-impact teaching practices; (6) ability to contribute to the Jesuit educational mission of the department and university.
