Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge invites applications and nominations for an Instructor and Online Programs Coordinator of Industrial Engineering in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE).
LSU is the Flagship University of the State of Louisiana, with its main campus in the vibrant city of Baton Rouge, offering many cultural and recreational opportunities and high-quality affordable housing. The MIE Department is the largest one in the College of Engineering with B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs in both Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering. Appointments will be made at the Instructor level, though applicants with exceptional qualifications and experience may be considered at higher instructor ranks.
IE Online programs include M.S. in Industrial Engineering and two graduate certificates one in Healthcare Analytics and one in Healthcare Systems Engineering. Teaching expectations include a commitment to effective instruction at the graduate level and advising of graduate students in their Master projects. Courses are offered asynchronously online and run for seven weeks in six terms throughout the calendar year.
MIE is seeking an effective, passionate program coordinator to join our team and maximize our impact in the online education domain. The program coordinator will be responsible to support LSU online activities, oversee IE online students activates and details, and measure overall success. The candidate will also strive to create positive experiences for all participants and implement online programs best practices.
Job Responsibilities:
70% Teach online IE courses, including providing education-related service as assigned by supervisor. Advise students in their Master projects. Course design and development. The teaching load will equate 1 course per term.
30% Coordinate online IE students, including working with LSU Online and the College of Engineering for recruiting, enrollment, retention, advising, maintaining programs statistics, and tracking quality of the program. Coordinate special projects and initiatives to enhance and grow the IE online programs. Act as industry liaison and champion for IE online programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial engineering online education and/or engineering practice.
Degree Substitute: Ph.D. in an Engineering discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering. Experience in teaching industrial engineering courses; experience in teaching online courses; experience in one or more of these subjects: probability and statistics, information technology as related to IE (e.g., business analytics, systems integration, information system design, enterprise resources planning, and enterprise systems, use of Artificial Intelligence) and supply chain engineering in addition to any other; very good management and oral and written communications skills; experience managing academic programs and/or online programs; familiarity with effective marketing practices; ability to generate analytical reports to measure program impact; solution-oriented mindset.
