Job Description

The primary responsibilities of this position are teaching mechanical engineering courses, establishing an externally funded research program that engages students and produces scholarly publications, providing academic guidance and mentoring to advisees, and engaging in service that supports the department, college and university as well as the mechanical engineering profession.

Responsibilities:

• Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  
• Develop courses and laboratories.
  
• Submit proposals for internal and external funding.
  
• Publish scholarly papers.
  
• Advise students each semester on course selection.
  
• Mentor students in the area of professional development.
  
• Serve on committees at the department, college and university levels.
  
• Participate in service to the mechanical engineering profession.
  
• Assist in special events or initiatives as assigned.
  
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  

Required Education & Experience:

• Ph.D. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  
• Demonstrated academic expertise in education and research or relevant.
  
• Professional practice in mechanical engineering.
  
• Ability to teach courses in one or both of the following broad topical areas: mechanical design, thermal-fluid sciences.
