Job Description

 The faculty member performs teaching duties and professional service for the College. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing instruction as assigned; conducting and assessing instruction; developing and/or modifying curriculum; assisting students through academic advising; establishing, posting, and maintaining office hours; providing leadership for the development, growth, and support of the College and the assigned area; and undertaking professional community service.

Other duties include supporting the mission, vision and values of the College and policies of the Board of Trustees; serving on various College committees, task forces and other groups; and participating in various official College ceremonies and meetings.

This is a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track position which begins August 15, 2020.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

A master’s degree in Social Work or Human Services and two years of full-time teaching experience or the equivalent at the college level are required.  Other requirements include: 

  • Required Licenses: Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C)
  • Demonstrated ability to teach a diverse range of courses including, but not limited to, Introduction to Sociology, Introduction to Social Work, Juvenile Delinquency, Marriage and Family by drawing on face-to-face, online, and hybrid course delivery methods.
  • Demonstrated experience building partnerships with relevant organizations and stakeholders in the community.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing experiential learning, internships, co-ops, and service learning.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of evidence-based pedagogy in teaching and assessment of student learning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the accreditation process with respect to Social Work (and Human Services) with emphasis in acceptance to the Social Work/Human Services programs within a College along with current knowledge of Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) policies and regulations.
  • Demonstrated competency with current technology and learning management systems.
  • Ability to interact with students and prospective students outside the classroom environment in discipline-related activities, while facilitating successful student learning through the effective use of technology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and possess a well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges and their students.

Community college teaching experience and Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) with clinical experience are preferred.
