Job SummaryThe Doctoral Capstone Coordinator is responsible for the development, management and coordination of doctoral capstone experiences in compliance with the standards of ACOTE accreditation. The Doctoral Capstone Coordinator procures Capstone sites, ensuring that each doctoral capstone experience is designed through collaboration of the faculty and student, and provided in setting(s) consistent with the program's curriculum design, including individualized specific objectives and plans for supervision, and monitors student progress.
Collaborates with the Chair, to design, implement, and evaluate good academic philosophy and practice in the Doctoral Capstone projects, including documenting a formal evaluation mechanism for objective assessment of the student's performance during and at the completion of the doctoral capstone experience.

1. Knowledge in the use of relational databases, spreadsheets, and/or word processing; experience with packages to assemble, manipulates and/or format data and/or reports.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated skills in diplomacy, team building, and connecting people to a common vision. Ability to present complex information easily and accurately.
3. Ability to interact with the departments; ability to exercise administrative judgment and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.
4. Ability to multi-task and prioritize
5. Highly proficient in applying technology to work processes. Strong Excel spreadsheet skills required.
Required QualificationsQualifications Standard
1. Education: Graduation from an accredited occupational therapy program. Must have doctoral degree from a United States Department of Education recognized accredited program.
2. Experience: Two or more years’ experience as an occupational therapist.
3. Licensure: Oregon State OT license or eligible for State licensure.

1. Procure and develop doctoral capstone sites that fit with the scope and sequence of didactic courses and curriculum design.
2. Ensure that each doctoral capstone reflects the sequence and scope of content in the curriculum design so the doctoral capstone can allow for development of in depth knowledge in the designated area of interest.
3. Ensure that there is a valid memorandum of understanding for the doctoral capstone experience, that, at a minimum, includes individualized specific objectives, plans for supervision or mentoring, and responsibilities of all parties. The memorandum of understanding must be signed by both parties.
4. Document and verify that each student is mentored by an individual with expertise consistent with the student’s area of focus prior to the onset of the doctoral capstone experience.
5. Communicates and coordinates with sites annually to maintain alignment and quality consistent with CHS and WesternU.
6. Ensure completion and dissemination of each individual doctoral capstone project that relates to the doctoral capstone experience and demonstrates synthesis of in-depth knowledge in the focused area of study.

7. Assess the educational effectiveness of the Capstone sites through several metrics.
8. Works with students and/or sites to resolve problems related to students’ skills, knowledge and level of professionalism.
9. Reporting of assessment results and recommendations for improvement.
10. Annual report provided for review and reporting as needed – accreditation, University reporting, etc..
11. Annual evaluation and updating of the Capstone Manual.

12. Ensure all capstone activities are congruent with the curriculum and meet quality standards.
13. Act as liaison with capstone sites and community partners.
14. Align to CHS expectations and maintain compliance with ACOTE standards, policies and procedures.

17. Assist with student recruitment and attrition issues as needed.
18. Provide support and mentorship for students throughout the academic program regarding preparation for and selection of doctoral capstone experiences.
19. Oversee administration of doctoral capstone requirements of affiliation agreements, student health records, site-specific requirements, and utilization of healthcare education management system.
20. Contribute to the overall success of the program and the university.
21. Instruct in capstone related courses.
