The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Brock University strives to achieve a diverse, flexible, innovative, modern curriculum for educating undergraduate and graduate students in both mathematics and statistics; training students to learn how to acquire further knowledge and skills related to these areas and their myriad applications; carrying out world-class research in modern areas of mathematics, statistics, and math education; connecting and linking with other Departments and Faculties in teaching and research.
About the position
The Department currently offers a BSc and an MSc in Mathematics and Statistics. The successful candidate is expected to have a primary role in the development of a new undergraduate program in Financial Mathematics, sustain and expand existing financial math courses, and teach undergraduate courses in the MICA (Mathematics Integrated with Computers and Applications) concentration. The successful candidate will also build a modern transdisciplinary research program which will strengthen and broaden the Department's MSc program, as well as contribute to a proposed joint PhD program with the Department of Computer Science. Commitment to develop new graduate courses and supervise graduate students in the areas of financial mathematics and mathematical modeling is anticipated.
The successful candidate must have recently completed a PhD with expertise in analytical and computational aspects of Financial Mathematics and computer-based Mathematical Modeling. A strong record of independent research in these areas which will attract external funding is desired. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated teaching ability.
