Job Description

 

The Associate Dean of Behavioral & Social Sciences and Education provides leadership and vision for the academic area, strategically directing the development, implementation, and sustainability of collaborative partnerships. These partnerships may include, but are not limited to, grant funded initiatives which serve to meet the employment needs and skills gaps in the behavioral health and behavioral and social sciences sectors in the Southcoast region, as well as build incumbent curricular pathways and bridges to higher education for students in the Behavioral & Social Sciences and Education area. The Associate Dean is also responsible for duties such as, but not limited to, collaborating with faculty on the development of new Behavioral & Social Sciences and Education programs or certificates, increasing student engagement, maximizing learning outcomes through High Impact Practices, and engaging underrepresented groups at all campus locations. The Associate Dean offers new thinking in these areas, consistent with the college’s strategic goals for new strategies for the improvement of course and program delivery. Finally, the Associate Dean works collaboratively across the college to ensure shared governance, transparency, and assessment practices while helping to move the college towards comprehensive, innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of the Bristol community.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a Master's degree in higher education or a related area.
  • Minimum of five years in a leadership role in the field of higher education or a related area in the discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, partnership development, grant development, and engaging underrepresented groups.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as required.
  • The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a Ph.D. or Ed.D in related field.
  • Demonstrated industry experience relative to the discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience working at a community college.
  • Proficiency with database software, such as Banner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and consistent experience in using varied social media outlets on behalf of a business or organization that has proven to increase the digital footprint of the organization's brand.
  • Experience with High Impact Practices
  • Robust understanding and demonstrated inclusion of access, equity and student success practices.
  • Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
