Job Description


The International and Global Studies Program, in conjunction with the Anthropology Department of The University of the South in Sewanee, TN, invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August 2020. We seek candidates with a PhD or ABD in anthropology and a research focus on globalization. Subfields are open, but preference will be given to those who study capitalism, the environment, gender, and/or immigration. World region is also open, but preference will given to those whose work is focused on Asia.

The person hired will teach 6 full courses, including several electives in their area of expertise as well as one section of an IGS introductory course and one required class for anthropology.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

A successful candidate will exhibit excellence in teaching and a strong potential for successful research and publications.
