Position Status: Full-Time

Position Summary:
Counseling Center (Savannah, GA). The Mental Health Counselor provides direct clinical services to students, outreach programming, and professional training to the Georgia Southern community on a variety of mental health issues, clinical training to practicum students and interns as needed, and consultations to faculty and staff regarding college student mental health.

Essential Functions
  • Performs related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University.
  • Provides individual, couples, and group therapy to Georgia Southern students.
  • Provides crisis on-call service in rotation with other clinical staff.
  • Provides crisis/triage assessment and response to students as needed.
  • Participates in various training programs housed within the Counseling Center.
  • Provides outreach programming and consultations to campus community.
  • Maintains all relevant ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice for as relevant to credentials in the State of Georgia.
  • Coordinates one or more areas of Counseling Center service as requested by Executive Director.
  • Maintains compliance with Counseling Center policies and procedures.

Minimum Education Required:
Master’s Degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology or Social Work; Licensed as an LPC or LCSW in the State of Georgia, or ability to obtain relevant Associate License (LAPC/ LMSW) within three (3) months of start date and full license within three (3) years of start date

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; legally authorized to work in the United States; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment

Preferred Education:
Full licensure as LPC or LCSW preferred

Preferred Experience::
Experience working in a University Counseling Center; experience with public speaking

Salary Range: $40,200 - $48,400
