Tenured Professor of Surgery
The Department of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh has embarked upon a search for a Vice-Chair for Surgical Oncology Services in the Department of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh/UPMC.
The Surgical Oncology Services at UPMC/University of Pittsburgh includes 30 surgeons that span multiple sections including breast surgical oncology, colon and rectal surgery, endocrine surgery, gastrointestinal and general surgical oncology, and hepato-pancreatic-biliary surgery. During 2019, our surgeons performed more than 17,000 procedures in 12 hospitals. Surgical Oncology at UPMC has a storied history dating to the formation of the NSABP and paradigm changing work in the management of breast cancer and other solid tumors. More recently, we have become renowned for our SSO and ACGME-approved Surgical Oncology Fellowship (total of 10 slots) and world leading robotic surgery program. Our research programs include cutting edge bench-based research in tumor immunology, immunotherapy, and gene therapy as well as a robust portfolio of clinical trials. In addition, the surgical oncology program has a dedicated NIH T-32 training grant.
The Vice Chair for Surgical Oncology Services plays a major role in setting the strategy for our 40+ hospital system that spans three states and is engaged in our extensive international programs that include the management and consulting services to health care facilities in China, Italy, Ireland, and Kazakhstan.
Candidates must have completed an accredited surgery residency program, completed a surgical oncology fellowship and have a research background coupled with ample experience functioning in a high-level administrative leadership role.
