Full-Time Faculty Appointment

 

The Ringling Graphic Design Department has an excellent reputation in design education. The results can be seen in the outstanding job placement and the number of employers who regularly return to campus to recruit as well as student awards in National Addy’s and Adobe Design Achievement Top Talent. The Department has a curriculum that strongly values excellence in typography and design for print and interactive media.

Facilities: Ringling College’s Graphic Design Department features fully equipped and updated Macintosh computer labs. Each classroom has a color printer and scanner. Our “process room” has 3 screen printing presses and workspace for cutting, folding, sewing, inking and other hand craft. Our Print Services department is one floor up from our classrooms and features large format printing, laser cutting, laser etching and 3D printing.

The Position: The Department is seeking a design faculty with interactive and print design experience. The primary responsibility of this position will be providing quality instruction in visual systems design for interactive or print formats and in design techniques to create interactive projects as well as instruction in the fundamentals of typography and design.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching three courses or nine credits per semester. Ongoing commitment to creative work/scholarship in the profession is expected. Active participation with faculty, department, and college service is required.

This is a full-time appointment with benefits. The salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The anticipated start date is August 2020. The College has a supportive, collegial faculty, a curriculum that strongly values excellence and a robust support system dedicated to using the most current technology.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • F.A in Graphic Design or related field.
  • Proficiency in software relevant to interactive and print design and prototyping: Sketch or Adobe XD, Flinto or other prototyping software as well as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Demonstrates a strong background in the principles of graphic design and typography particularly as related to UI/UX design.
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative educational environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful college level teaching.
  • Working knowledge of coding / developing for interactive design.
  • Three years of job experience in the professional field of expertise.
  • A repertoire of engaging teaching techniques that reach out to a variety of learning styles and students new to the subject.
