Job Description

The purpose of this position is to perform teaching duties and professional service for the College. This is accomplished by providing instruction as assigned; conducting and assessing instruction; developing and/or modifying curriculum; assisting students through academic advising; establishing, posting, and maintaining office hours; providing leadership for the development, growth, and support of the College and the assigned area; and undertaking professional community service.

Other duties include supporting the mission, vision and values of the College and policies of the Board of Trustees; serving on various College committees, task forces and other groups; and participating in various official College ceremonies and meetings.

This is a 10-month, tenure-track position scheduled to begin August 2020. This position will be filled based on availability of funding.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

A master’s degree in Biology or a closely-related field, with 18 graduate credit hours in Biology; and

one year of full-time teaching or the equivalent adjunct teaching, preferably in a community college setting, are required.  A doctorate is preferred. 

Other requirements include: 

  • Experience teaching with evidence-based pedagogies.
  • Demonstrated competency with current technology and learning management systems.
  • Experience in assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Ability to teach non-majors biology with lab.
  • Ability to teach cellular biology with lab for allied health students and/or science majors.

Experience with course embedded undergraduate research and experience with inclusive pedagogy are preferred.
