Position Status: Full-Time

Position Summary:
Office of Admissions. The Transfer Admissions Counselor works collaboratively with Admissions staff in recruiting transfer, transient, and non-traditional students to Georgia Southern University in support of its goals for enrollment.

Essential Functions
  • Performs related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University.
  • Provides information concerning all aspects of the University to prospective transfer, transient, post-baccalaureate, and non-traditional students and their supporters.
  • Travels extensively (including overnight, week-long trips) to attend and present at college fairs, two-year colleges, admissions events and other community events to recruit for Georgia Southern University.
  • Plans strategic recruitment initiatives to meet enrollment goals for transfer, transient, post-baccalaureate, and non-traditional undergraduate students.
  • Maintains regular correspondence with prospective students by telephone, email, and handwritten letters.
  • Assists with various marketing activities, applicant file evaluation and a variety of other recruitment related activities.
  • Serves as a daily counselor on call, helping any student or supporter seeking information regarding admission, and hosts daily information sessions to campus visitors.

Bachelor’s Degree

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; legally authorized to work in the United States; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment.

Preferred Education:


Preferred Experience::
Experience in Collegiate Admissions or Enrollment Office; ability to assess student academic standing and extracurricular activities, and provide information on university programs, majors, admissions requirements and processes, and scholarship and financial aid resources.

Salary Range: Minimum $33,300
