Job Title: Lab Tech I- Immunobiology and Microbial Pathogenesis, Dr. Bjorn Lillemeier

Laboratory/Department: Nomis Foundation Laboratories for Immunobiology and Microbial Pathogenesis

The laboratory focuses on T lymphocyte activation and how the plasma membrane structure is utilized during T cell receptor signal transduction. We use cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry and fluorescence microscopy techniques to study these events.

Position Description:

Under general supervision, position performs tasks and experiments in support of academic research projects. Responsibilities may include routine molecular biology, biochemical, and cell biology techniques. Maintains and prepares accurate records of all experiments. Assists with general laboratory organization and maintenance.

Education:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and undergraduate coursework in biological sciences or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or related field.

Experience:

Required:

  • No professional experience required.

Preferred:

  • 1 or more years of experience in a laboratory setting, which may be obtained during undergraduate laboratory coursework.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in cell biology and animal models.
  • Proficient in the operation of standard lab equipment and computer hardware/software.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work in an animal-related research environment.
  • Must be willing to work an adjusted schedule to support research needs.
  • Successful completion of the Institute’s background investigation.
  • Must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires constant handling, seeing, sitting and talking.
