Job Title: Lab Tech I – Clayton Foundation Laboratories for Peptide Biology, Dr. Marc Montminy

Laboratory/Department: Clayton Foundation Laboratories for Peptide Biology


Current work in the lab focuses on the identification of CREB target genes and characterization of agonists and antagonists that may be used to evaluate the importance of CREB in mediating cellular responses to various stimuli.


Position Description:

Under general supervision, position performs tasks and experiments in support of academic research projects. Responsibilities may include routine molecular biology, biochemical, and cell biology techniques. Maintains and prepares accurate records of all experiments. Assists with general laboratory organization and maintenance.


Education:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:

  • Undergraduate, including laboratory, coursework in biological sciences or related field.


Experience:

Required:

  • No professional experience required.

Preferred:

  • 1 or more years of experience in a laboratory setting, which may be obtained during undergraduate laboratory coursework.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in cell biology and animal models.
  • Proficient in the operation of standard lab equipment and computer hardware/software.


Special Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work in an animal-related research environment.
  • Must be willing to work an adjusted schedule to support research needs.
  • Successful completion of the Institute’s background investigation.


Physical Requirements:

This role requires constant handling, seeing, sitting, standing and talking.
