The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will provide vision and oversight for all academic programs and accreditations for the College of Fine Arts. This position will be responsible for providing data management, assistance with university reports, operational management and policy direction.
Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs serves as an integral member of The College of Fine Arts Leadership Team working collaboratively with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and departmental chairs. Additionally, s/he oversees all accreditation and University program review processes for the College. These duties would include writing of the accreditation study for the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, and providing consultation and advice as a liaison for other accrediting activities in Theatre, Dance and Interior Architecture and Design. This position will also be responsible for oversight of compliance related reporting, including Institutional Effectiveness.
The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs participates in strategic planning, policy development, and program accreditations for all academic units within The College of Fine Arts. In effectively doing so, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is responsible for improving academic quality, expanding programmatic options, and evaluating course curriculum. The Associate Dean ensures integrity, quality and transparency that govern the undergraduate and graduate curriculum while fostering an innovated teaching and learning environment conducive to academic excellence. As a leader, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs supports the exploration of new programs and identifies dynamic opportunities to advance the mission set forth by the College and serves as the chair of the College Curriculum Committee.
The Associate Dean works with the College's Media & Communications staff providing management, oversight, and administrative direction for communication services related to academic programs within the College.
This position represents the College on the Council of Assistant and Associate Deans, the Council of Associate Deans for Research, and other committees as determined by the Dean. The Associate Dean is often called upon to represent the College and the Dean within the University as well as with external organizations, donors, patrons and various institutions.
This is a 12-month faculty position; rank is dependent upon on qualifications and experience for a minimum appointment at Associate rank.
