Job Title: Postdoctoral Position - Molecular and Cell Biology Laboratory, Dr. Patrick Hsu
Status: Regular Full Time
Benefits Eligible: Yes
Laboratory/Department: Molecular and Cell Biology Laboratory
Are you passionate about engineering and repairing life? Inventing technologies and editing the genome? The Hsu Lab at the Salk Institute (http://hsu.salk.edu) works at the intersection of bioengineering and genomics to interrogate the human genome, develop precision genetic therapies, and invent new technologies for genome and transcriptome engineering.
Position Description: We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows who are interested in developing and applying novel molecular technologies to systematically reverse-engineer cellular processes through rapid and precise perturbations (Hsu Cell 2014). We recently described the discovery and the development of new CRISPR systems for transcriptome engineering (Konermann Cell 2018, Zhang Cell 2018). This position is part of an R01-funded team to develop RNA-targeting CRISPR technologies to understand and control dynamic cell states, enable new modes of functional genomics, and develop synthetic biology solutions for cell therapy.
Education: Candidates should have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and experience in molecular/cellular biology and genomics. Biological background or interest in neurobiology or immunology preferred.
Experience: Significant experience with molecular biology and genomics techniques (protein engineering, RNA biochemistry, RNA-seq, ChIP, etc.) Background or interest in bioinformatic/computational techniques is preferred.
Application Instructions: Please submit your CV, statement of research interests and experience, and references to Dr. Patrick Hsu (patrick@salk.edu )
