Job Title: Research Associate - Regulatory Biology Laboratory, Dr. Katherine Jones
Status: Regular Full Time
Benefits Eligible: Yes
Laboratory/Department: Regulatory Biology Laboratory
Lab research focuses on gene transcription, emphasizing the role of transcription elongation and RNAPII CTD kinases in cancer and human embryonic stem cell differentiation.
Position Description:

A postdoctoral position is available to study a newly-discovered pathway, which links transcription and RNAPII CTD kinases with mRNA 5-cap remodeling by mTORC1 for facilitated translation in the cytoplasm, is critical for ovarian, breast and prostate cancer metastases. The project will explore how the CDK12 kinase affects signaling under NRF2/oxidative stress conditions, as well as during human embryonic stem cell renewal and differentiation. A novel regulator of CDK12, which is essential for mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation will also be characterized and studied for insights to inhibit this step in cancer. Prior experience with ChIP-seq,RNA-seq, imaging, and molecular and biochemical/proteomics techniques would be relevant.

PhD degree in Biological Sciences.

Recent PhD with experience with mammalian cell culture, protein biochemistry, chromatin and/or gene expression analysis including chromatin immunoprecipitation.
