We are seeking a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral fellow interested in studying spinal cord function in health and disease. Research in the lab focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying somatosensation, using a combination of in vivo imaging, (opto-) genetic, electrophysiological, behavioral, and computational approaches. The successful candidate will employ advanced optical imaging techniques, together with (opto-) genetic, neurophysiological, and behavioral approaches to dissect neuron-glia communication and its role in mechanosensation, thermosensation, nociception and/or itch in awake behaving mice.
Candidates should hold a PhD degree in Neurobiology, Biological Sciences or related degree.
Experience in spinal cord surgery, slice or in vivo electrophysiology, and computational data analysis (e.g. using Matlab) is preferred. Training will be provided in all areas needed for successful completion of the project. Applicants must have a demonstrated record of productivity and scientific excellence (at least one lead or joint first author research article in a peer-reviewed, renowned international journal).
