The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to be a medical educator for basic and clinical sciences. This position will bring skills and energy to the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) and 3+ curriculum in several critical ways. MCG's basic science and clinical departments are the academic units of these medical educator faculty. Faculty members advance the educational mission within departments and the educational initiatives of the MCG MD Program. Creative, innovative educators contribute uniquely to the educational team at MCG. Each medical educator is expected to contribute to educational research, faculty development, or both. Ideally, each educator faculty will have some interdisciplinary educational focus, and all will contribute directly to key aspects of MD curriculum delivery. Clinical faculty will also practice medicine in their discipline, and must be eligible to be licensed in Georgia and credentialed at AU Health System.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and evaluate evidence of content, construct, and criterion validity for each assessment instrument, as well as to collect and analyze data to establish acceptable levels of inter-rater, internal, and test-retest reliability.
  • Inform and operationalize new standard operating procedures in the assessment and evaluation of student performance data to align with the new learning objectives of the MCG 3+ Curriculum.
  • Perform psychometric analyses to support best practices in reliability and validity for new and existing assessment instruments.
  • Recommend methodologies and analyses, perform effective and efficient data analysis, interpret results, and communicate findings.
  • Assist in the design, development, and documentation of technical and operational procedures and psychometric guidelines to support the application and continuous improvement of rigorous assessment and evaluation.
  • Maintain a program of research and scholarly activity, with significant independent and collaborative components.
  • Support medical student research
  • Deliver curricular content in formal MCG or AU courses



Required Qualifications

Doctoral degree (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent); board certified or board eligible

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training

Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

Evidence of ability as a teacher;

Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
