Job Description

The Department of Civil Engineering (CE) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Transportation Engineering at the level of Assistant Professor. Applicants with an interest in any field within the broader transportation engineering area are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will become an integral part of the CE program, with duties to include teaching courses in the department curriculum consistent with their background, working on program/curriculum development, developing a nationally recognized research program with extramural funding, and participating in professional/service activities.

The faculty position to be filled is a full-time tenure track appointment with primary responsibilities in teaching, research and service/outreach. The successful candidate will become an integral part of the CE program, with duties to include teaching courses in the department curriculum consistent with their background, working on program/curriculum development, developing a nationally recognized research program with extramural funding, and participating in professional/service activities. Duties and Responsibilities:

Contribute to CE undergraduate and graduate instruction, mentoring, and advising.

  • Development of a nationally recognized, externally funded research program.
  • Production of scholarly works.
  • Participation in professional/service/outreach activities.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

  1. PhD in Civil/Transportation Engineering or related field.
  2. Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
  3. Evidence of scholarly achievements.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  1. Academic/professional experience.
  2. Research program that complements and expands current Department of CE and WTI research programs.
  3. Demonstrate ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the CE and WTI programs.
