Job Description
The Department of Liberal Arts at the University of Houston-Clear Lake invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor of Humanities beginning Fall 2023. The Clinical Assistant Professor should have an interest in and experience teaching postcolonial theory. The area of specialization is open in terms of both geography and chronology, but both should complement rather than replicate existing program strengths.
Duties:
- Teach four classes per semester (fall and spring) in either World Arts I or World Arts II, as well as upper-level undergraduate Art History courses and a core Humanities MA course in their area of expertise.
- Participate in committees and other university service.

Preferred and Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Art History, Visual Culture, Architectural History, or a related field. Qualified applicants at the ABD level of their PhD program may be considered, provided a terminal degree is anticipated by the hire date.

The ideal candidate will also have an interest in teaching both on-campus students and incarcerated students in our groundbreaking Transforming Lives by Degrees (TLD) program.
