Job Description

The Division of Anatomic Pathology of UPMC Shadyside Hospital, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPSOM) is seeking a pathologist, board certified/eligible in Anatomic Pathology (AP or AP/CP) and Cytopathology, with specialty training and academic interest in Cytopathology.

The successful candidate will be based primarily at UPMC Shadyside Hospital of the UPMC health system, which also provides diagnostic support to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. The Department of Pathology processes over 10,000 non-gynecological specimens per year and contains an active fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy service, including an active FNA clinic with ultrasound-guided FNAs performed by pathologist.  The successful candidate will also participate in surgical pathology sign-out, based on their subspecialty expertise.  UPMC Shadyside Hospital is an attractive state-of-the-art facility with collegial faculty and dynamic cytology staff involved in providing superior clinical service, as well as dedicated to training residents, cytotechnology students, and cytopathology fellows. Candidates would have opportunities for translational projects utilizing the state-of-the-art resources of our molecular anatomic pathology, FISH, and other laboratories, in addition to numerous research collaborations with clinical colleagues. The individual will be a full time faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh, as well as a participant in the UPMC/UPP faculty practice plan. A record of and commitment to scholarly activities and publications is essential.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Pathologist, board certified/eligible in Anatomic Pathology (AP or AP/CP) and Cytopathology, with specialty training and academic interest in Cytopathology.  Academic rank (Assistant/Associate Professor) (tenure/nontenure) and salary are commensurate with prior academic achievements and experience.  Eligibility for medical licensure or practice in Pennsylvania is required.
