Job Description:

The School of Sciences and Engineering at the American University in Cairo, the Department of Physics invites applicants for a fixed-term full time faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor. Highly accomplished applicants may qualify for the rank of full professor. Appointments start Fall 2020. Renewal beyond the first year is contingent upon a successful review of teaching, scholarship and service, as well as department needs.

 

Additional Information:

The Department of Physics is currently pursuing scientific research in several areas of theoretical, applied and experimental physics, with its priority areas in solar energy (currently a specialization), nanoscience and photonics. However, exceptional candidates in complementary or emerging areas are welcome to apply.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Requirements:

Successful candidates will be committed to excellence in teaching undergraduate courses at basic and advanced levels as well as graduate courses. Successful candidates are encouraged to develop courses in their areas of expertise. Wide teaching experience as well as the ability of teaching freshman courses and associated laboratories in an integrated way (i.e. studio classroom) are highly desirable. They are also expected to have a proven record of scholarship, awarded grants, and conduct high quality research in their areas of expertise. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in physics or related field from a reputable international University with solid research record proportional to the stage of their academic careers.
