The Department of Process Engineering and Applied Science is seeking applicants for a probationary tenure-track appointment. This position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Chemical Engineering program and will commence July 1st, 2023, or earlier if the applicant selected is available. The successful candidate will teach and conduct research in the field of Chemical Engineering.
Research in the Department has a general focus on Clean and Sustainable Processing, and researchers fall into one of two broad categories the Department is looking to build on:
The position will be filled by a chemical engineer with demonstrated research excellence in either of the Department’s two focal areas. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded research program and to supervise graduate students in the Department. Current research activities in the Chemical Engineering program are diverse, and include interdisciplinary collaborations with researchers in other programs, other departments, and other institutions. Candidates with areas of specialization that may be complementary to those of faculty members currently in the program are encouraged. Such areas could include, but are not limited to, the following: (1) in the first category, these would include bioprocess engineering, bioresource engineering, biomedical engineering; (2) in the second category, these would include process modelling, process optimization, process control, and life-cycle analysis.
The successful applicant must be able to teach core courses in the Chemical Engineering program, as well as technical electives, and graduate courses in their area of specialization. The successful candidate will be competent to teach computation-rich courses and have strong interest in teaching design. Applicants must hold a doctorate in Chemical Engineering or in a closely related field and have demonstrated excellence in the teaching of university-level courses in this discipline.
Applicants should also have a track record in research that includes peer-reviewed journal articles, conference presentations, and research grants. Candidates must be eligible to be a registered professional engineer or EIT in Canada and committed to registration.
