Job Description

Breast and Gyn Pathologist at Magee-Womens Hospital of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The division contains 12 faculty members with different areas of subspecialty interest.  It is the centerpiece women's care facility where all breast, gynecologic, perinatal specimens and gynecologic cytology is received and processed for diagnostic purposes. The division contains 12 faculty members with different areas of subspecialty interest. Clinical research focuses on immunohistochemistry, gynecologic cytology, image analysis, and molecular approaches to gynecologic and breast malignancies. There are opportunities to support basic research at Magee-Womens Research Institute through the development of peer-reviewed funded research programs and collaborative opportunities with faculty engaged in molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, etc. The Pathologist will be a full time faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh as well as a participant in the UPMC/UPP faculty practice plan. Teaching opportunities are also available with medical students in the School of Medicine, gynecologic and breast pathology fellows, cytopathology fellows, and pathology residents.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will be expected to sign out breast and gynecological surgical pathology cases and cytopathology (mostly cervico-vaginal Pap tests) cases. The successful candidate must possess an MD (or equivalent) degree, be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anatomic Pathology and be eligible for a medical license in Pennsylvania at the time of appointment.
