About the Research, Instruction, and Access Services Division:
The Libraries' Research, Instruction, and Access Services Division (RIAS) supports UO students and faculty by building and delivering relevant collections and services; facilitating access to local and remotely-held library resources; implementing and participating in innovative outreach and engagement activities; providing online and face-to-face information and data literacy instruction; and promoting access to affordable course materials. RIAS encompasses six major service areas: Access Services, Data Services, E-learning, Open Education Resources, Research and Instructional Services, Undergraduate Engagement, and five Branch Libraries.

Position Summary

UO Libraries is seeking a highly motivated, forward-thinking, and customer-focused individual to join the Research, Instruction, and Access Services Division as the next Resource Sharing Manager. We are seeking a candidate who embraces change and innovation, is eager to welcome a challenge, and has experience in libraries and supervision. The Resource Sharing Manager collaborates with fellow members of the departmental management team to provide administration and management of the Resource Sharing unit in Knight Library. Responsibilities include providing functional and strategic leadership to meet the changing service needs of UO Libraries' customers; managing 3.5 FTE non-exempt, represented employees and approximately 2.0 FTE part-time library student assistants; and serving as UO Libraries' technical lead for Resource Sharing-related technology and operations.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; AND
Three (3) years of experience in libraries within the last five (5) years providing or overseeing public services in libraries (e.g., circulation, reference, course reserves, ILL): AND
One (1) year of supervisory experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to consistently provide and model professional and user-focused customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and manage direct reports and foster a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain flexible and adapt to rapid change and ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member to balance workloads, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize and follow various channels and flows of communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully resolve technological, procedural, and other types of problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain current in, interpret, determine compliance with, and enforce policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within and foster a diverse work environment.
  • Knowledge of US Copyright Law as it applies to Resource Sharing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year or more of work experience within the last five (5) years in a large academic, research, or public library.
  • Demonstrated experience enhancing customer service in a large business or organization.
  • One (1) year experience within the last three (3) years working extensively within the Alma ILS Resource Sharing, Configuration, and Analytics modules.
