In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Human Resources, this position will address issues related to employee relations, complaints, grievances, claims, and cases and assist in meeting applicable standards, regulations and best practices. Conduct review and investigations of alleged student, faculty, staff, and outside third-party misconduct, including but not limited to the preparation of comprehensive reports of investigations, findings, recommendations for appropriate action, and consulting campus administrators to facilitate recommendations and proposed sanctions. Serve as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator. Advise supervisors on employee performance management and counseling/corrective actions. Conduct and coordinate training programs related to employee relations and organizational development. Address inquiries from government agencies (e.g. EEOC, EDD, FEHA). Administration and case management of leave of absences, workers' compensation, disability accommodation, terminations, wage and hour, and other employee services in compliance with regulatory requirements. Maintain regular and consistent work site attendance, including but not limited to working evenings, weekends and/or holidays, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individual must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities and be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with our without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Working knowledge of Human Resources/Employee Relations best practices, compliance with employment laws and regulations.
2. Strong computer/technology proficiency including Microsoft Office applications, HRIS and Internet.
3. Ability to effectively conduct investigations and remain neutral.
4. Demonstrated superior judgment with ability to approach complex problems logically and systematically.
5. Outstanding attention to detail and follow-through skills.
6. Experience dealing with sensitive information and ability to maintain confidentiality.
7. Strong organization, planning, analytical and problem resolution abilities.
8. Exceptional teamwork with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; prioritize and complete tasks while working under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
10. Excellent customer focus and service skills.
11. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to give presentations/conduct trainings.
Required Qualifications
• Experience: Three – five years conducting investigations or handling employee relations matters. Ability to conduct effective presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
• Certification in Human Resources
• Experience in an environment of higher education or campus setting.
• Knowledge of civil rights laws and regulations.
• Familiarity/experience with risk management, dispute and conflict resolution preferred.
• Title IX experience
