Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Senior IT Director, this position will support the strategic implementation of information technology by the faculty and staff of Academic Departments, and other associated centers.

Job Description

As a key IT contact and point of escalation, the successful candidate provides technology expertise to advocate for IT solutions and services needed to ensure departmental stakeholders meet their operational goals.

This candidate may also recommend and develop new solutions that integrate technology initiatives to improve staff efficiency and effectiveness. These solutions may include but are not limited to, in-house applications, course management applications, and desktop management services such as Big Fix. Working within a dedicated team of other Strategic Partners, the IT Project Leader promotes Wharton Computing's vision, value, services, and capabilities. Individuals in this role must be able to communicate clearly, listen, troubleshoot and achieve results using strong interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide IT project management.
• Work closely with stakeholders, IT team, consultants, and vendors.
• Plan/coordinate implementation and migration to new services including configuration, testing, and change management.
• Participate in meaningful team meetings where input is always encouraged and creativity is always required.
• Influence departmental goals.
• Provide third-tier support for desktop and laptop hardware and software, printers, mobile devices, and network configuration.
• Work with the Wharton Computing staff to provide high security and availability of information resources, and to connect users to the appropriate resources to meet teaching, research, and operational goals.
• Advise on purchasing decisions, deploy, support, and maintain desktop and laptop computers.
• Provide quantitative and qualitative research support to faculty, visiting researchers, and Ph.D. students.
• Maintain and manage positive working relationships with internal customers as well as other technical groups within the School and the University.
• Engage with Wharton Computing leadership and other cross-functional teams on various school-wide projects and initiatives.
• Pay excellent attention to detail, communication, and customer service skills.
• Be able to work independently and apply critical thinking.
• Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Have the ability to multitask and manage several projects at once.

IT Project Leader: Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience and 3-5 years experience with user support are required, including demonstrable troubleshooting experience with Windows, Mac OS, mobile devices, and peripherals; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent organizational, self-motivated and communications skills are essential to this position. Experience in higher education, project management methodologies, and familiarity with ITIL service delivery are strongly preferred.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
