Assistant/Associate Professor - Immunology

The Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (VASCI) (http://www.vasci.umass.edu/) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with the goal of preventing the establishment of disease, developing treatments for existing diseases or creating conditions that improve human and animal health. The successful applicant is expected to establish an extramurally funded research program and to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising, consistent with the teaching responsibilities of our faculty. Salary and start-up will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the University of Massachusetts provides an attractive fringe benefits package.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D, D.V.M./Ph.D, or M.D./Ph.D and have developed, or have the potential to establish, a vigorous independent research program in one or more of the designated areas of immunology.
  • Research with a translational component is considered an advantage, as is an interest in veterinary systems, but these are not required.
  • Expertise in one of the following areas: T cell receptor function, cancer immunology, infectious diseases or vaccine development, or interaction with microbiota.
  • Quantitative skills and experience in big data analysis
  • Ability to use methodologies such as single cell analysis, genomics, proteomics and/or transcriptomics to assess the immune response or develop models to predict immune responses are preferred.
