The Department of Biological Sciences invites applications from academically qualified and professionally experienced individuals for a non-tenure track, 12-month, open-rank Instructor Position in General Biology.
General Biology I and II are high enrollment courses taught every semester. Teaching in other undergraduate upper and lower division courses may also be expected, depending on specialization and departmental needs.

The Department of Biological Sciences has ~4500+ undergraduate majors, ~120 graduate students, and 61 faculty members on two large campuses (https://www.fiu.edu/locations/index.html), one in west Miami (MMC), and one in North Miami on Biscayne Bay (BBC). This position will be primarily located at the BBC campus although teaching on MMC may be assigned as needed.

Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in the biological sciences and be dedicated to providing an enriching learning experience.
Willingness to teach active learning courses is required and experience in active learning classes is preferred.
