Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an associate’s degree or its equivalent, two years responsible office administration experience, and demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, etc.) in a networked office setting, and internet navigation.  College course work beyond the associate’s degree or its equivalent may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required experience. Appropriate work experience on a year to year basis may be substituted for the college degree requirement. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations.  Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position.  A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Prefer experience processing and establishing student eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid; excellent customer service skills in high traffic post-secondary education setting; documented computer experience; and accounting experience.

Duties: The Financial Aid Specialist position is a full-time career service position. The Financial Aid Specialist will assist students and families with the completion of the appropriate aid forms- collect, scan and verify documents required by law; counsel students and use expert level computer skills; process documents received to determine eligibility for federal, state, and institutional assistance. The Financial Aid Specialist will provide financial aid expertise during student recruitment activities and college-wide recruitment events; scan, verify, and index documents; and assist with other financial aid programs during periods of registration including audit files; and provide excellent customer service. This position may require flexible work hours, including some evenings and weekends, may be assigned to work at any of the Financial Aid Departments throughout the district, and may require overnight travel. This position report to the Director, Financial Aid/Veteran Services/Scholarships.

Salary: $27,825.00 ($14.22/hour) -
