We strive to research behavioral and lifestyle interventions for health promotion. Our faculty have many expertise which include injury prevention studies, obesity prevention, statistical modeling and many more. Our mission in whole is to improve health and prevent illnesses. As the Institute of Public and Preventative Health we achieve our mission through research, service, leadership, and training. Our vision includes health behavior screening and education, community health update for public and private stakeholders, public and preventative health seminar series and development of new public health research projects.

Job Summary
The Administrative Assistant 2 performs complex administrative work involving considerable internal and external contacts, difficult non-routine tasks, access to confidential information and administration of department policies and procedures. Judgment and initiative are frequently exercised in answering verbal and written communications and in interpreting departmental policies, rules and regulations. Supports management of the MPH program.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:

Support Director and Associate/Assistant Directors: Provides executive level support to the Director and Assoc/Asst Directors to include scheduling and making arrangements for meetings and conferences, including scheduling rooms, food service, travel and housing for internal and external contacts.

Business Operations: Monitor department budget, handle bookkeeping duties and reconcile accounts. Authorize expenditures from department budget. Coordinates daily activities related to business operations, including confidential information, consistent with University policy and procedures. Manages payroll and human resource functions for departmental employees to include monthly and biweekly leave reporting, recruiting, and ePAR processing.

Preparation of Grant Proposals: Assists directors with preparation of grant proposals to include computer entry of content, reformatting data compiling drafts and revisions, producing graphics, obtaining resource material and supplies and making all meeting arrangements.

General Administrative: Responsible for departmental property control of office supplies and equipment inventory. Prepare written correspondence and reports, create agendas, design and develop meeting presentations to include information research. Handles and resolves complex issues independently and in a timely manner. Assist in the development of policies and procedures for the division/department and is responsible for interpretation and explanation. Serve as liaison between department and institutional contacts as well as outside institutions and the general public.

Reports: Compile and prepare institute and division level reports: serves as an advisor to the sections in compiling information.

Other: Perform all other related duties/tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of four years' progressively responsible experience in administrative support positions, including two years at the Administrative Assistant 1 level OR High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a State or Federal accrediting organization and seven years' progressively responsible experience in administrative support positions.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration or related field and four years of progressive administration experience. Knowledge of AU policies and procedures.

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday

Pay Grade: 12

Salary: $15.06/hour - $19.58/hour

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
