Graduation from high school or GED equivalency, four years secretarial experience, and demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, etc.) in a networked office setting, and internet navigation. College course work may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required experience. Successful results of a criminal background check are required. Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer work experience and knowledge of TRIO grant programs, experience working with a diverse population; demonstrated customer service skills, experience using an automated system to process payroll, purchasing, and accounting documents; demonstrated ability to maintain extensive recordkeeping documentation; experience working in a high traffic area; demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks; and excellent oral and written communication skills. Duties: The Administrative Assistant position is a full-time career service position. The Administrative Assistant will assist in conducting daily administrative activities, maintain office files, correspondence, and related reports; compile information and prepare regular or special reports as requested; maintain the records associated with the departmental budget and expenditures; process purchase requisitions and related documents; efficiently process payroll and personnel documents; make travel arrangements; schedule appointments and meetings; handle a large volume of functions and activities; follow complex instructions; and perform other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must possess the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision, and exercise discretion concerning confidential matters. Attention to detail, computer proficiency (spreadsheet management, electronic correspondence, and word processing skills), superior organizational skills, and excellent soft skills are essential for success in this position. This position reports to the Program Director, Educational Opportunity Center. This is a grant-funded position.
Salary: $24,150.00 ($12.34/hour) -
