College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary

Research Assistant for GA CaRes MU NCORP grant. Assist the NCORP Administrator in the regulatory management of MU NCORP clinical trials as well as coordination and data extraction for ongoing research projects. Performs a variety of complex duties involved in a clinical study, a basic science or research laboratory in support of research initiatives; develops and evaluates new techniques and procedures; may coordinate and/or supervise activities of support staff.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Coordinate and assist with all aspects of implementation of trials under the GA CaRes M/U NCORP Grant. Duties include but are not limited to screening, consenting, and accurately entering study data into case report forms (electronic and paper) according to study requirements.
Assist with data retrieval, respond to queries in a timely fashion including correcting data as needed and directed by the Sponsor, Investigator, NCORP Administrator, Research Manager, Research Associate or Nurse Coordinators.
Prepare and maintain research protocols and associated documentation, ensuring regulatory integrity of each regulatory binder in accordance with federal, local and AU IRB guidelines.
Assist NCORP Administrator with NCI progress reports as required and other reports as needed.
Affiliate data entry, retrieval, and data evaluation for research studies to include, but not limited to screening logs and patient accrual as well as accrual data.
Filing, copying, obtaining signatures, assist research coordinators with shipping of specimens and perform other duties as assigned.
Perform other job-related duties/tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research. OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.

Preferred Qualifications
Some previous experience with social/behavioral science (public health) research is desirable.
Certified Clinical research Professional i.e. CCRC, CCRA or CCRP is highly desirable.
Experience in medical data management, informed consent development and protocol submission

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to use sound judgement and work independently
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills
Working knowledge of research budgets preparation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Shift: Full-Time; Monday-Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
*Position is 100% grant funded*
Pay Grade: R9
Salary: Min $15.00 - Midpoint $17.42/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
