Governors State University’s College of Arts and Sciences seeks to create an available pool of local (Chicagoland area) Adjunct Faculty candidates to teach courses in our undergraduate Interdisciplinary Studies program. The mission of the program is to prepare students to become problem solvers in a dynamic world; to provide a foundation for integrative learning, and to develop the professional skills necessary to contribute in today’s complex society.
Approximately 70% of students in this program are working adults. Students are able to complete the program using online classes, face-to-face classes, or a combination of both depending on student preferences. Therefore, the committee is interested in your approach to teaching across these two modalities. Please visit http://www.govst.edu/cas/idss for more information. We are particularly interested in adjunct faculty to teach courses in the following areas: Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies, Interdisciplinary Ethics, Career Exploration and Planning; Academic Reading and Writing; Learning and Memory.

At Governors State University, adjunct faculty are hired as temporary faculty with teaching responsibilities for a specific course in a semester or summer session. Adjuncts are not a part of the faculty bargaining unit and are not included in membership of the Faculty Senate.
A Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Humanities, Ethics, or Social Science degree.
A doctoral degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Humanities, Social Sciences, Ethics, or a closely related discipline.
