Job Description

 

 Appointment: Nine-month tenure-track/tenured position with a start date of August 2023. Base salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Summer and online teaching opportunities may be available. 

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Maintain a record of excellence in scholarship pertinent to Sport Management. Teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in Sport Management, Advise graduate students in Sport Management. Supervise master’s and doctoral research, Provide service through participation in governance of the department, school, and/or the university. Contribute to the development of the profession through participation in national and/or international associations, publication, and/or other related activities. Continue personal growth within the profession, keep current with the field, and broaden knowledge and expertise. 

Preferred and Required Qualifications

 

 Required Qualifications: 

  • Earned Doctorate in Sport Management or an appropriate and closely related discipline. 
  • Focused and active research agenda demonstrated by publications in medium to high impact journals and potential for extramurally funded research (e.g.., Local-, State-, and Federal-level). 
  • Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including online teaching, and demonstrated expertise in statistical and research methods necessary for effectively mentoring graduate students (both Master’s and Ph.D. levels). 
  • Commitment to fostering an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive in the educational setting. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in mentoring scholarly research on both the undergraduate and graduate level. 
  • Experience teaching varied courses in a Sport Management curriculum, utilizing various teaching technologies and multiple teaching formats (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, online). 
  • The successful candidate is expected to work toward the acquisition of external dollars, contribute to the SPMT PhD program to enhance student recruitment, training, and mentorship, and contribute to our successful online program(s). 
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with our partners in industry.
