The University of Windsor’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, in the Faculty of Engineering invites applications for tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Geotechnical Engineering, commencing July 1, 2023. The successful applicant will join the 19 new and established faculty members in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), a small department with a high degree of student-faculty interaction.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop their teaching skills, initiate their own research program, and develop personally as well as professionally. If you are the successful applicant, you will eventually be teaching undergraduate Geotechnical Engineering and Foundation Design courses, possibly general engineering courses, and a graduate course in your field of specialization. As some of the above-mentioned undergraduate courses have engineering design content, you are expected to obtain Canadian professional licensure (P.Eng.) as soon as possible, but in any case, before obtaining tenure. You will also be required to develop an independent research program including attracting funding, recruiting students and setting up a research laboratory. In this aspect, grant proof-reading services and start-up funding are available. The CEE Search Committee will consider recent PhD graduates on an equal basis as others.
This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
Applicants are expected to have Bachelors and Doctorate degrees in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field, such that their core competency is in Geotechnical Engineering or Soil Mechanics.
